Part 1: Say 'NO!' to Nokia

That's it. No more Nokia phones. I'm declaring Nokia as my public enemy No. 1

Here is what I wrote to them today:

"I bought Nokia model N70 on 21st December.

However, in less than a week, the phone was required to be sent to the service center for repair. My wife didn't even have chance to load in any software that came with the Nokia MMC card.
We sent the phone to the service center at Suntec City.

At the first return to the service center, the phone rebooted every 5 mins of usage and required more than 10 mins to boot up. Sent the phone in for repair, the technician referred the phone to higher level to replace an internal component and re-loaded the software. The service request number was : STC025619-001

When I collected back the phone, I tested it on the spot, it seemed to be working fine. However, the next morning, the phone software hung up. It refused to respond to any key presses. I had to remove the battery to re-start the phone. After this incident, the phone started its nonsense again. It hung up more than 3 times in 2 hours, rebooted twice during that period. I sent the phone back the very next morning. The service request number was: STC026054-001. Again, the technician referred it to a higher level to replace another itnernal component and to re-load the software.

I just collected the phone yesterday (30th Dec 2005)evening. As usual, I tested the phone on the spot, tried the camera, calling in/out, sms, bluetooth, alarm clock. Everything seemed to be fine. From then till this morning, the phone rebooted 5 times and hung up more times that I can remember.

How many times must I go back to Nokia service center to have such problem fixed ? My request to change the pcb at the 2nd return was ignored although the officer keyed it into the system.

I'm utterly disappointed with Nokia. What is the use of pasting the QC passed sticker on the back of the phone when even 2 repairs are unable to re-solve the problem ?

I'm going to send it to another Nokia service center on Monday since tomorrow is a public holiday.

I don't call this Customer Service any longer. I think Customer Harassment is a more suitable term. A one-time repair is fine and acceptable. I will even tolerate a 2nd repair, but a phone that requies repair 3 times in less than 2 weeks is TOO MUCH !!!

This is the last time I'm going to purchase a Nokia phone. I've owned many other branded mobile phones before and NONE of them required more than 1 repair. I used to be a proud supporter of Nokia phones BUT NOT ANY LONGER! You've just lost one customer FOR GOOD!

I'm not going to recommend Nokia phones to any of my friends or relatives. In fact, I'm going to dissuade every one of them from buying Nokia phones.

I'm going to write and post negative feedback on every Nokia phone reviews that I come across online."

I hope this wakes up their sleeping idea.

Customer Service... NOT !!!

I guess I couldn't keep this pent up any longer or I'll go berserk.

I bought a Nokia N70 for Lina as a Christmas present. Got it on 21st December. Problems arose the very next day. The phone software reboots just about every 5 mins of usage and it took approx 15 mins to get it up and running again. At times, the phone simply refuse to respond to any key presses. So ? It had to spend Christmas not with Lina but with Nokia's service centre.

I collected the phone back on the 27th, which was yesterday. Seemed to be working fine. Smooth operation, no hiccups. Until this morning. Lina set the alarm to ring at 545am but she woke up to find the phone software kicking up a fuss again. Refused to respond again. Luckily she had another alarm set on a backup phone. So, off to the service centre again.

This morning, at Suntec's Nokia service centre, the impression hit me like a thick encyclopedia smashing into my face. Even before the centre opened for operation, there were more than 10 people waiting outside the roller shutter! I guess this speaks volumes about Nokia's phones eh ?

I really tried to be a bitch, uncouth gangster, loud-mouthed bad-ass to the customer service officer but it seemed that whatever I did, the officer simply did not falter. Either their training was THAT good or I was darn lousy. The only thing I got squeezed from them was for the collection to be scheduled to be tomorrow evening instead of Friday afternoon. I guess there isn't much difference.

All I want is for the phone to be working fine. Not keep going back to the service centre. I don't like getting my adrenalin all pumped up, getting angry with people. It ruins my day, keeps me feeling and looking listless the whole day. But the waiting time, those nice excuses they make us believe, those smiles no matter genuine or fake... Customer Service ? More like Customer Harassment, I'd say.

Ooh it's Christmas!

" 'Tis the season to be jolly, fa-la-la-la la-la-la-la..."

Once again, Christmas is here. But somehow the Christmas mood and feeling has been declining over the years. The culture has somewhat evolved from a season of sharing to a season of spending. Prices of things that make Christmas significant are inflated. Even choices of gifts have changed. People are not wishing for sweets and chocolates anymore. Top of the list are electronic gadgets and stuffs.

But guess what? It doesn't matter. It's still Christmas. As the song goes, this is the season to be jolly!

Here's wishing each and every one of you out there, a merry Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year. May each of you feel joy, warmth, love and good luck in abundance.

Ho-Ho-Ho.

so what's it gonna be ?

Ahh, once again, the time has come for us to re-new or maintain our resolutions.

My resolution for 2006:
  • provide the best, if possible, for my little princess who will be coming into our lives in April 2006
  • to get all my required jobs done smoothly so that I can ORD in 2007 without any worries.

Oh, just an update of "my favourite pet" in my personal list. The kitten has been my favourite pet animal ever since I can remember stuffs. For the past year, I've been grappling within myself because there's a new player vying for "Andy's favourite pet animal" spot: The Roborovskii Hamster.

So as of now, I've made up my mind. My favourite pet animal is the hamster. Especially the Roborovskii breed. -grin-

So, what's it gonna be for the rest of you. Your resolutions. Made them yet ?
